I’m not sure where to start with this special story that is close to my heart. First, I will say that this is Kate, an incredible woman whom I have had the blessing of seeing grow into adulthood. If you know her, you know the fire in her spirit that has accomplished many great things, and many things we will never know that she has done for others, and yet many more to come. Selfless is only one way to describe her, with her determination to love, give, help, and save… She is an example to us all and inspires me that when times are hard and full of obstacles, you just push harder with a determination that she always sees through to the end.
Of all the things I have seen in her heart over the years, this. This is it. This is the battle she has been prepared for, the culmination of her dreams, and to be a small part of that is both humbling and renewing. It is beautiful.
For those of us that are mothers, we know this great sacrifice and responsibility. Yet there are those among us who can open their arms and heart to a child in a way we may never get to know in this lifetime. To truly know, personally, the life this precious boy was offered and to know all she has done to intervene is nothing short of awe inspiring.
Adoption is one of the most beautiful stories in our world, I can not fathom any higher calling. While there are some of us stuck on the specifics of dna and lineage, there are these beautiful people like Kate, who challenge our notions of what family is, that see beyond the physical and into our very souls.
Thank you, Kate, for sharing your story with me. I am so honored to be a part of these memories and to be asked to capture this incredible milestone in your life, in my little way. Through my years as a photographer, every session brings me closer to understanding the importance of what I am doing. To look back on these memories, years from now, from the setting, to the expressions, to the road to come… I will be there with you celebrating these milestones ❤️
